If You Like to Sleep at Night, Do Not Read This!

The nice folks over at The Havok Journal have conducted a Red Team Exercise on what a terrorist attack on America would look like. (part 1) (part 2) (part 3)

The analysis is well thought and represents just a portion of what could happen. It should be enough to give those mildly interested pause. The one audience that it won’t reach will be the same ones who were asking “why do they hate us?” after the 9-11 attacks. The same ones who today feel we must make nice with our ideological enemies.

For those of us who live in reality there is some things we can do but it comes without guarantees. Those seeking our destruction are well funded, about to get better funded and have the skill and resources to launch an attack anywhere. The lack of a guarantee doesn’t mean we shouldn’t prepare, we should still get our concealed carry permits (where needed) and carry everywhere we legally can while avoiding the places we can’t. We should consider keeping individual first aid (trauma) kits and the training to use them, and also planning for getting home if our primary means of transportation becomes unavailable.

As you go through your daily routine look around and think “what if?” Ignore the rules, think about what someone with nothing to lose is capable of. When you have some ideas think about what you can do (within the rules you have to follow) to minimize your risk first and if possible thwart the adversary as well. Plan, prepare and equip accordingly.
