In 1984 I was medically discharged from the Army after being told by an Orthopedist at a world renowned medical facility that I had a degenerative joint condition in my knees and that I could expect to be in a wheelchair by 1990. Instead after six years of intense physical therapy and a lot of exercise, I rode in a bus through these gates 22 years ago today on my way to Basic Training for the US Air Force.
I didn’t get to serve in the capacity that I had wanted to, but I did get to serve with some really great people. Many are still friends to this day. By the way I will be walking into my office tomorrow just like I do every day. Never give up.
